HW pages 1800's

  
1. The factors that do not affect nuclear reactions, but do affect chemical reactions are temperature, pressure, and catalysts.

2. The three main types of nuclear radiation are alpha radiation, beta radiation, and gamma radiation. 

3. The nuclear a of an atom undergoes change during radioactive decay. It becomes an unstable isotope and eventually changes to another elements sable isotope. 

4. The atomic number of a nucleus changed by alpha decay because its atomic number is lowered by two and its mass is lowered by four. For beta decay it is changed because an electron  is replaced by a proton, adding an atomic value. For gamma decay nothing changed because the charge is zero, protons are zero and electrons are zero. 

5. The mass on each side of the equations must be equal for a nuclear equation to be balanced.
This two things because two things must have the same mass for the equation to be balanced.


11. The factor determines the type of decay that occurs in a radioisotope is how stable/unstable it is. The decay will change if the neutron amount unstable or protons are unstable

First four days: 20/2=10
Second four days: 10/2=5
Every four day the amount of mass is cut in half
